Throbbing pain, swelling, or prolonged sensitivity to heat often means the pulp inside the tooth is inflamed or infected. Root canal therapy removes that tissue, disinfects canals, and seals the space—allowing you to keep the tooth instead of extracting it.
Risks of waiting
Infection can spread to the jawbone or nearby teeth. Antibiotics alone rarely solve the underlying problem if the source remains inside the canal. Prompt treatment usually means less discomfort and a higher success rate.
After treatment
Most back teeth receive a crown afterward for strength. Mild soreness for a few days is normal; severe pain should be reported so we can evaluate.
